Fear Or Flexibility ?
Fear for a thing generates Hatred for that thing. And majority of the Pakistani's are afraid of Taliban and their Extremist Verson of Islam.
May God give Taliban some sense to Preach a Less extreme version of Islam without violence. That is the only way they can achieve some success. The way they are now moving will create fear and hatred. Their way will create their control for only a short period of time and then the control will self-destruct. With Guns, they can control anybody physically but not Mentally.
When the Sufi's first came to the sub-continent, they learnt the Culture of the Sub-continent. They just studied the fine details of the different traditions of the Sub-continent. They found out that Music was a good way to connect with the people. They used their common sense and utilized the Weapon of Melody and Installed the Basic Fundamentals of Islam in the Hearts and Minds of the People althought Music is considered to be HARAM by many Islam Scholars. They preached against the Bad traditions and Gave an oppertunity to the Hindus and Sikhs to Understand the Flexible Religion. Its Ok to let the individual decide what he wants. Let him Decide his Own fate. Dont use guns and weapons to force him.Growing a Beard doesnt make anyone a GOOD Muslim. Many of the enemies of Prophet(PBUH) had beard.

1. As it seems, you are Ok with the fact that Talibans are acceptable only if they show flexibility...why do you want them to achieve 'success' at first place? They are the people who have been deprived of social necessities of life, cultivated in a revengeful environment. They need help or a share in life such that justice could be done to them...but does this all qualify them to take up the 'leadership' role by any means? You are asking them to repeat what Musharraf did. He accused NS of plane hijacking and killing and as a consequence, took up the country's charge. Now look at the accusation he made and check out the punishment he envisaged for NS and for the rest of the country...(sigh)
Islam advocates justice. for robbers, there is a punishment of hand chopping and not hanging till death...the quantum of punishment must match the severity of sin. If Talibans are not given rights (watsoever are their demands), they do not qualify to become dictators no matter how flexible do they become in their doings. They are NOT acceptable.
Inspiring others through personal conducts... You talk about sufism...here you are comparing how religion islam was liked and adapted in sub-continent where Hinduim was prevailing in this part of the world...HERE we are talking about people who are ALL muslims and need no introduction with this religion any more. No matter how hard core muslim you are, you have no right to tell other muslim how fake they are...This is Allah's job and let HIM do that...
2. Music is not acceptable in Islam. This is as simple as that. And lets accept the fact that we do this out of sheer will and not out of some 'confusion' in interpreting Quran or Hadith. I do listen to songs...and i take up the responsibility of my wrong doing or whatsoever...i have no right to blend Islam the way it suits me...let us all at least accept what we do in our lives...Btw, If you are inspired from SM's Khuda k Liey then please do make a note that gifting a surreal voice to one of the Prophets does not mean that Allah wanted him or the world at large to start singing. Allah made Hazrat Yousaf, the most beautiful (and i use the word beautiful here) man on earth. It is said that 98% of this world's beauty was summed up in him and only 2% is what we see all around us...now should we (Nausobillah) make a claim that it meant promotion of gay-ism in the generations to come??? Sometimes it is too hard to accept the absurdity in logic. I would end my comment by stating a saying that i read some time ago.
'The biggest criminal is not the one who commits a crime, but the one who not only commits a crime but find 1000 reasons to justify it...'
Regarding Music and Muslims, here i was talking to Talibans. I was telling them that even if you see us as Non-believers, plz show us some flexibilty like those sufiez. Btw can you Quote a Single Verse in Quran Against Music ? i would like to read it.
And I watched Khuda k Liye but i didnt like some parts of it.The movie was good. Better than RAJO ROCKET and those GUJJAR movies and many Bollywood movies. The acting ws gooood.Made me a Fan of Shaan! Worth Watching Pak Movie !
Yes, i respect the difference of opinion but all i want you to do is to take a stance. We all want tolerance...this lacks in this part of the world...but what they are talking about is no tolerance...they are hard core, brain-washed, animals. I'm not saying that we must not show flexibility but here the stakes are too high...we wont get anything out of them.
As for music...well, i have not studied Quran with translation nor could i find time to search through authentic sources. I guess its controversial. I laid down my logic on the simple fact that anything which is controversial is shaky...the grey areas...and anything and everything which is doubtful should be left out if you truly believe in following the words of Allah. Anyway, i wont comment any further because my philosophy is not backed up by a Quranic verse or Hadith but dude, you are as information-less as i am :) and this is the dilemma of us all...none of us know what true islam is...not even those talibans..not us...
anyway, keep posting!
But the point is we cant Eliminate them from the face of the world like that. How can we simply Change the faith of any person? We Can't ! But i liked the Tactics used by the Govt. of Pakistan. Taliban Lost the Public support now. This made them so vulnerable.
Regarding Music, yup i agree with you.Stick to the Basic Fundamentals of Islam.
